Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I can not believe we are about to say goodby to another
month, time does seem to fly.
We have been talking about statistics
over the last few days and how "evens" on betfair statistically seems to be
very accurate.
I was going to start testing laying one Greyhound in a
race as long as it was between 2 and 3 yesterday and although I managed to get
about 3 lay bets (won all 3). I had to stop because we needed to do full
testing on a new Grey Horse feature, so we had use all the machines an betfair
accounts.
I found I was getting one bet about every 5 or 6
races, so a complete day's betting should produce around 10 bets, although for
testing I may limit my races between 11.00 am and 6pm, so it may mean less
bets.
I will start trying to take screen shots for
you.

We often here the term hedge or hedging
being used, mostly by traders.
Hedging really means to cover yourself
from loss. Traders normally "Green up" so that they make money what ever the
outcome of an event.
Of course this isn't always possible but you could
use several techniques so that you take some of your risk away.
"Each
way" betting is one way of doing this, so that your horse may not win but if it
comes in the top 3 (depending on the number of runners) then you won't lose
everything. In some cases you could still be in pocket.
It's probably
better to do this on betfair where you have a little more control over what
prices you would do this at.
You could split a certain percentage of
your stake to win and to place if the odds allow it. Although overall you will
have to take a drop in potential returns. You probably don't want to do this if
you are a layer, but for win bets it could help your returns.
If you
look at the Miracle system bets, many are placed but the problem is that the
prices can be quite short, but you could consider just putting some of your bet
in to the place market.

2. Guest Selection - 19-04-2007
I have been
receiving some win tips from a good friend of mine called Shaun.
There
are two selections Best and Next best. You can look at best only or follow
both. Shaun suggest that you aim to make 5% of your bank a day and he chases
any losses onto the next selection.
I am going to start with a
£500 bank.
What you do then is take 5% of your bank, in this case
£25.00 and then divide it by the available odds and that's your
stake.
So if the odds were 2/1 then I would divide £25 by 2 making a
£12.50 stake.
If I then lost I would take the £25 already lost
and add it to my next stake that is again 5% of my bank and then divide this
new figure by the available odds.

The idea is to to back the favourite and lay the second best
priced horse before the off.
We are hoping that most of the time the lay
should not change but if it does then it is always the best priced horse (lay
side) after the favourite.
Our stake will be £10 split 4.00 on the
back and 6.00 on the lay. Of course you could do this how you want but we
suggest you put slightly more on the lay to cover any loses on the back bet
because we feel the lay will lose far less often.
