Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I went to the physiotherapists to get my arm looked at. It seems I have a
tendon that is inflamed which is the reason for the pain. Not an easy repair
job evidently but a lot of resting of the arm is needed.
The end of another month and we now draw closer to the jump season and this
is the time you should consider lowering your stakes because we head into a bit
of a turbulent time as far as form is concerned.
I had a quick look at the Racing Post naps table this morning to see how
they have performed this season (Tipping > Naps Table).
As is usual most of the list are showing a negative figure and of the 52
tipsters only 13 are showing a profit and 8 of those are under 10pts. I know
there are still a few weeks to go before the table changes but it is unlikely
many will get into a profit and in fact many will be taking chances on
outsiders hopping to get a big win.
There are a few interesting tipsters in the table.
Racing Post RP Ratings -60.22
Racing Post Lambourn -46.02
Racing Post Trading Post -45.87
Racing Post Postdata +1.13
Racing Post The North -17.04
Racing Post Newmarket +23.72
Racing Post Spotlight -11.79
Postdata just made profit where as Newmarket made 23pts over this latest
season. Which is quite interesting if you put it up against a site like
http://www.laybackracing.co.uk/ !
But although Newmarket wasn't top they are probably followed by more people
than the leader at the moment who is Blackpool Gazette Steve Simpson with
43.03pts.
When you first look at this table you can be forgiven for thinking that there
must be away of using it to make money if not from backing then certainly
laying.
There are a few problems that arise quite quickly.
1. None of the tipsters are consistent and many of them have periods of wins
and losses so you can not be sure the one you choose will continue in the same
vane.
2. Taking the most popular selection for the day has seemed to have worked
quite well through the flat season but was disastrous through last years jump
season.
My feelings are that although it's an interesting table and you could
probably use it as a start point for selections I wouldn't rely on them it to
give you a consistent run of winners or losers.
One quick think I forgot to mention last week and that is you can still follow
my "lay of the day" if you wish at

, you will find it at the bottom right hand corner.
