It's our Wedding Anniversary today, so I am downing tools and going to
spend some time with my wife.
Ain't I the romantic?
It's Tuesday so only two meetings Goodwood and Beverley so not much to
choose from.
I spent a lot of yesterday going over some of my "Lay Betting System"
results to see if I can up the strike rate just a little more.
I realised that even with my experience of making systems, I still have
not gathered as much information about the selected races as I probably
should have..
The problem is that when you rely on websites for your information
if you don't take down the important information on the day, then you
have to go searching for it afterwards.
David Turner has Racingpost and Daily Mail's going back years, so he
can easily test new ideas or try and improve on old systems.
Take the racingposts "spotlight verdict" once it's gone thats it (as far
as I know) it's gone!
Although not always accurate I find it great for getting a feel of a
race.
There are other things like, first time headgear and furthest travelled
these can all be useful, but more difficult to find at a later date.
So if you are creating your own system or trying to improve on one you
already have, make sure you make a note of as much detail as possible,
you never know when you may need it, especially if you don't buy papers!
It wasn't all bad though I have identified a couple of areas that could
help, but I need to test a bit further.
Sometimes I feel like a detective trying to find those little clues that
will lead you to the culprit that is stopping you from having a 100%
success rate.
In reality I am pleased with a system that produces 50% or over and I
think any system that reaches a win rate 80% is exceptional
(and probably short sp).
