It is very difficult to trust people with your money, but at the end of the day unless you are confident in your own ability to pick winners you are going to have to, especially if you really are serious about making money from the horses.

So how do you go about picking a system or someone you can trust?

Well before you do that I think you need to ask yourself a couple of questions that will help determine the type of tipster/system that will suit you.

- How often do you want to bet? Daily, a couple of times a week or just on Saturday or even just on the odd big race.

- Do you just want to place your bet in the morning and leave it?

Or

Would you prefer to watch what is happening in real time and adjust your betting accordingly?

- Are you prepared to keep betting, even if your tipster/system is having a losing streak?

A bad run of bets can be costly and it's when most people bale out.

Going back to the stock market, most investors bale out when the share price is falling, forgetting why they picked the shares in the first place and in many cases not even knowing why they are bailing out!

- How much do you want to make a month?

Its no good saying you want to make a £1000 if you are only betting £5 now and then, or you would have to make some pretty risky bets.

I know these are pretty basic questions that you should really know the answer to, but it's be surprising how many people don't.

Have You noticed I haven't mentioned "How much can you afford to lose"?

Well if you don't know the answer to that question, maybe you should find something else to do with your money.

Horse Racing is risky whatever way you look at it and I would expect anyone who bets, will have a clear idea of their financial situation and know that the money they are playing with, HAS NOT come from the cash you will need to pay the monthly Mortgage or the Weekly Shopping.
