Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I decided to start my
winter project over the weekend. I am going to finally clear the loft
out!
Sounds easier enough but there is years of junk up there and I used
nearly 30 bas already.
Graeme (a reader) sent this in...
THE
most important topic that you need to become expert yesterday is how to manage
your Bank. I have heard the phrase "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail"
whomever wrote that must have learned that the hard way. So how do we make a
plan and implement it to our advantage??
What is needed as a start is
a Benchmark. This is the amount we wish to draw from the Bank each week. So
lets use the National Minimum Wage as our personal Benchmark. I will round this
up to make things a little easier to work with and I will also use the National
Average Working week as a base from which to do the Calculation
NMW =
5.6 per hour (rounded up slightly from 5.56)
NA WW = 37.5 ( which is 7.5
hours per day). This is for 5 days.
Total is £210 per week for 5
days. Lets forget about Tax etc.
This is now our weekly amount which
we need to draw from the Bank. To work out how much this is per day you just
add 5.6 * 7.5 = £42 a day.
BUT what about the exchanges 5%
maximum which is levied on all winning bets??. If we were to just work to this
£42 per day we would actually LOSE £2.1 per day in Commission. so
how do we make the required amount per day AND still grow our bank whilst still
protecting the base??.
This is the beauty of the exchanges in that we
can use them 24/7. So lets see what happens when we work out the 7 days at
£42 per day and lets also include the 5% commission.
WK 1.
Required daily £42.
Comm @ 5% of 42 = 2.1
Real income =
£39.9
7 days = £279.3
Minus Drawings = £210
Total
Profit = 69.3
So how do we grow our Bank from just £69.3??. Lets
consider a 3% increase on this small amount. £69.3 * 3% = £2.079.
This amount is now ADDED to our initial daily requirement which was
£42 per day or £39.9 Real.
WK 2
42 + 2.07 = 44.079 (
drop the 9)
New daily amount = 44.07
44.07 * 5% = 2.20
Real Income
= £41.08
7 Days =293.09
Minus Drawings = 210
Total Profit for
week = 83.09
83.09 * 3% = 2.4927.
This is again added to previous
weeks daily amount. Over time as you can see if you stay with this method you
will soon be able to give yourself a nice bonus each week and still protect
your base. Don't worry if you can't get to this level yet as it is flexible to
your own circumstances but can serve as something from which to work from each
week. The beauty of doing this is also you don't have to pay any Tax or NI out
of your weekly drawings. so your £210 is Pure.
