Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I still didn't do the
decorating the weekend, instead I ended up fixing fence panels and pulling up a
very dead tree that had a pretty impressive route system, for its size.
I have been testing Ultratrader all weekend, only because it is totally
automated so I don't have to do anything except have a look at the P/L every so
often to see how it is doing. This is automation at it's best and because of
the paper testing feature you can just run a scenario for days to see if it is
profitable or not.

Some time next month this bot will go from trial to paid
version (not expensive though) but for the time being you can try it out and
just have fun.

to show you some possible scenario's one or two are quite impressive.

On Friday I put the latest beta
version (1.0.2.0) in to the forum which included the new trading feature. The
idea is that you can back or lay a horse and set the Grey Horse bot to trade
out if the price moves enough to make you profit.
While testing I have
been putting small 3.00 bets on and asking for 40p profit. While running the
Greyhound Selections (8) on Friday I was quite surprised to see that on the
14.27 the price moved enough to make a trade.

You can see that I laid at 5.66 and then the
Grey Horse bot backed at 6.80 and gave me 0.49 pence profit no matter what the
outcome of the race was.
Trading is great when it works especially as
you know if all the colours turn "Green" then you will win no matter what the
outcome of the event.

I nearly
always lay first so I use the tab that says "Bet Back".
If you put in a lay
price of 5.66 (this is the lay price you would find on betfair). Then put
£3.00 and then the back price of 6.80 and then click into the next box.
You can then see that my back stake has to be 2.50 and the net P/L is 0.48
exactly how the Grey Horse bot did it on the above Greyhound
race.

8. Greyhound Selections- Lay
System started 07/11/2006.
After playing around with selections I
have decided that for the time being this is going to be a lay only test. I
think I have worked out a system that will give us quite good prices but I
suspect there will have to be a maximum lay price set. I am just not sure what
that will be but I am testing between 2.00 and 7.00. I will make every effort
to record betfair lay prices as well. The ones marked with an asterisks
(*) are from the original and tighter system, I am not using these
now.
You can see all the results since the 14th (when I introduced
the latest selection method)
here. I am now using what I call the "rule of 3", this means
we go for 3 wins and use a 3 race scratch back to get back any losses.

back the favourite and lay the second best priced horse before the off.

are hoping that most of the time the lay should not change but if it does then
it is always the best priced horse (lay side) after the favourite.
Our
stake will be £10 split 4.00 on the back and 6.00 on the lay. Of course
you could do this how you want but we suggest you put slightly more on the lay
to cover any loses on the back.
