Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I have to take my wife for an early hospital appointment
tomorrow so this emails going to get to you very early or more likely later
around midday.
We are hopefully getting to the closing stages of her
treatment but it is likely there will be one more operation first.
I am
sorry on two counts for yesterday's email. Firstly some of you may have
ended up with an email with lots of weird HTML code in it.
This was a
mistake on my part because I forgot to tick "send as HTML" on the server. If
you did get this strange email can I ask you to consider moving to the new
server
here.
It is the same sign up as before but it should
mean you do not get a similar email again.
The second apology was for
something totally out of my control and it was Yarmouth being abandoned.
I didn't find out until just after I sent the email out so it was to late to
say anything.
It can be harder going in the winter but we just have to
stick with it.
We have two jump meetings at Cheltenham and
Sedgefield and a flat meeting at Nottingham.
I have to
tell you about something that happened yesterday with a new bot I am testing
for in running. On one particular scenario I left the bot to get on with
automatically placing bets while I went out. Please remember we are testing and
there are still a lot of work, but although the bot has paper trading we have
all the test results from this so we are now live testing.
Anyway when
I got back I noticed my betfair account had gone up by £83 which was
strange, I was only betting £5 stakes over 5 or 6 races. So maximum
profit I was expecting was 15 to 20, even if the scenario was very successful
it would probably only had 3 to 4 matches at best.
The bot did actually
do well and got matched over 3 races the problem was that it placed multiple
bets on the same horse on these 3 races where it was only meant to place one
bet, so I won 4 times more than I was expecting.
Of course it could have
gone the other way and wiped out my test bank so I suppose that's what you call
lucky, or maybe the scenario is looking even better than we thought!
Actually I must admit apart from the money I can lose while testing it is
my favourite part of the process especially when we find something that does
actually work long term.
Betting in running had a lot of dangers though
but it can be a great place to pick up good value bets, but I cringe when I see
the odd runner go out to 30 or 40 (sometimes more) and then come back in to
win. I just wonder how many people out there are taking the risk laying these
horses because someone must be there is always money on them.
My
threshold for expensive lay's are probably greater than a lot of people who
read this email but even I have my limits. ------- Yesterday's results (
on the new win system we have been testing). We lost on the only
selection.
