Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I am sorry about many of you not receiving this email yesterday, the
email system I used was off line all day!
Only two meetings again today as the bad weather causes Catterick to
be abandoned.
From a lay point of view it's great to see how favourites handle the
bad weather, and certainly helps us!

If you have all day to bet then you can take advantage of these up and
downs, by watching the amount of money being bet for or against a
selection.
On Betfair clicking on the horses name will bring up a graph which
represents the price movement, since the betting was opened on the event.
It is quite easy to see if the price is going up or down or staying
relatively calm.
As I have already said to predict what is going to happen next is quite
difficult but at least with this information you can get some idea of
what may happen next.
Form a lay perspective if the price looks to be on the way up it is a
good sign, but you may want to place your whole stake before it gets any
higher, the opposite may be true for a backer and if the price is
dropping then the reverse is true of both.
If the price looks as if it is going up and down then another strategy
is to place some of your stake immediately, and then keep an eye on the
price to see if you could make further bets, at the top or bottom of
the ride at the prices that best suit you.
Because people on the exchanges have different reasons for betting on
horses then if you have the time it is always worth asking for a lower
lay price or higher back price, you will be amazed how often you get a
match, especially nearer the off, as there will be traders trying to
equalize their profits or safe themselves from a loss and will often
take what they can get!
In running is another area that you can find good prices, but you have
to be quick and it is easier if you have a programme like bet-pal with
one click betting to help.

Lay bet only as close to the off as you can get. Only lay if
it's odds at the normal bookies is between 1/2 and 15/8.
You can use one of the odd comparison sites for this or the
racingPost's own Desktop betting shop.
