Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I wanted to comment on the article from Psycho that I
gave you on Tuesday.

As
you can probably imagine I get asked a lot about tips services and % win rates
and a variety of questions that go with it.
Psycho was of course correct
that all services go through good and bad spells and many of the bad spells,
seem to happen when you have just joined!
There are some questions you
need to ask yourself.
If I join this service and I hit it at a bad time
can my bank survive?
What steps should you take to protect myself if it does
start losing?
When do I give up on the selections altogether?
I am a
great believer in paper trading but I also understand that if you have to pay
to join a service, then you want to try and start making that money back as
soon as possible, but normally very small stakes should make you enough to
cover this cost.
When you first join a service do not use any type of
staking plan to start with, keep your bets at level stakes and see what effect
this has on your bank. Most people get into trouble because they start using a
staking plan straight away and then get into trouble, very
quickly.
Psycho made another point in his article.
"Why tipster
services move up and down the league table is because the strike rates of the
systems are rising and then falling. No rocket science here! "
This is a
good point, I often get asked what the strike rate of a system is but this
figure may not always tell the whole story.
You could have a lay system
that because of a run of winners is showing an 82% strike rate. 1 week later
you could have several losers which would take the strike rate down maybe to
78% but on it's own it doesn't tell you much at all.
I always look for
worst case scenario first and how to handle it.
I have said this a
hundred times:
"If you fail to plan then you are planning to fail"
Do
your homework it will pay off in the
end.
