Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I finally found out what kept crashing my test machine
yesterday. Hopefully it should now be repaired now, which means I can now get
back to showing you the daily screen shots.
Another win on the Place
System(3) yesterday. I like simple systems that seem to work reasonably well.
As I have said it is slow but it could account for a nice little bit of extra
profit for the year. It's having little systems like these that help build up
your overall yearly bank.
We have covered the "The Deadly Sins of Gambling" many times in this email, so we
don't need to go over them again, but to have the patience to follow "1 a day"
type tips is probably something many people find very difficult to do on a
consistent basis.
I suppose, just because we are following racing many
people find it difficult to slow down and get a good strategy
together.
One question I am asked a lot is - "how much do I need to make
a living from racing?"
Most people expect a monetary answer, so I could
say...
If you want to win £20 a day then really you need a bank
100 times this so around £2000. Because as most people know I recommend
only using 1% of your bank as a stake and if you can win just once and get out
then that's it.
People will argue that because I say go for 3 wins as we
do on "The Rule of 3" then really they could cut the size of the bank down by 1
3rd and still have enough.
Yep, you could do that as well, in fact you
could try a lot of different things but I think a lot of people may miss the
point, because I don't actually think it is about the size of your bank or
stake. My opinion is that the money although important, is not as important as
your ability to handle this game without getting emotional, when things go
wrong and know exactly what you have to do in these situations.
So my
belief is that you should start with a small bank and small stakes and build
your bank. If you can not do this then there is something wrong and until you
can grow your bank consistently, then it doesn't matter how much money you
have.
The problem is that most peoples focus is on "how much can I
win?", rather than "What do I need to do to in order to make a consistent
profit?"
Although they sound similar they take totally different mind
sets and the latter will hopefully put you in the frame of mind, that will make
you ask the right questions.
As I have said before there are plenty of
tips out there that can make you a consistent profit, but only if you know what
to do when things do not go to plan.

Bismarx(BVR)
As at 8 o'clock this morning the
following horses were identified as within Bismarx range. Watch for market
changes before the race. Exercise caution at odds over 2.8 or where
non-runner's have left less than 5 runner's in a race. Generally do not lay
when wide odds disparity (3.0+) has emerged between the Favourite and the other
runner's. Quit when your profit target has been reached. Prepare for
liability in advance - always plan your next move first.

8. Greyhound Selections- Lay System
started 07/11/2006. After playing around with selections I have
decided that for the time being this is going to be a lay only test. I think I
have worked out a system that will give us quite good prices but I suspect
there will have to be a maximum lay price set. I am just not sure what that
will be but I am testing between 2.00 and 7.00. I will make every effort to
record betfair lay prices as well. The ones marked with an asterisks (*)
are from the original and tighter system, I am not using these
now. You can see all the results since the 14th (when I introduced
the latest selection method)
here. I am now using what I call the "rule of 3", this means
we go for 3 wins and use a 3 race scratch back to get back any
losses.
