20th February
2008 Todays ramblings Good Morning.
Sorry I am running late this morning so I will leave you
with Darren.
--------------------- From Darren at the
Betting
School.
It seems that everybody is a layer these days and every
system is a lay system, so this week I thought I would talk about selecting
your own lay selections.
What follows is extracted from a nine page
report written by Simon Church (the brains behind MD Professional Sports
Betting) for the
Betting
School Insiders members.
The first step you should take when
selecting a horse to lay is to shortlist the horses in the race that meet your
price requirement EG if you don't want to lay over odds of 7.0 then make a note
of what is trading below that price.
Step two is to look at current
form, if a horse has good form then we probably don't want to be laying it!
What I mean by good or respectable form is that if it has been placed
within the first 2 during its most recent run. If I see a selection that has
either a 1or 2 next to its name (most recent run) then I leave it well alone.
Of course winners can come from any previous form figure but these 2 are the
obvious ones to avoid. You may also choose to add 3 or 4 to this avoidance list
but with every extra number you include, the less the opportunities that there
will be. This is mainly because virtually all the shorter priced horses are so
priced because they do have decent form.
Rather than just consider the
previous run only as a basis to making a lay selection I also look to runs
prior to this one. If, for example the previous run was a marked improvement on
the last but one race then this again would send out a warning signal. By this
I mean it is an obvious improving horse. If a horse had the figures, 8903 then
I would probably decide against laying this, mainly because it has made a vast
improvement and could very well be a serious danger in the race.
I
actually like to see a horse's form deteriorate, even if some recent
performances were ok. Here is an example; 2349. These figures are on the whole
much better than the first set and at first glance look more dangerous. If we
look closer though we will see that the first horse has most recently improved
its performance while the second has not. And although the second horse's
figures are better overall, I would give preference to this horse, as it
clearly is on a downslide.

report which is available to members of the Betting School Insiders Club. To
