Can you win from Betting Favourites?
I know a lot of people avoid favourites because they consider that
they are bad value and for sure if you just bet every favourite in every race
you will lose money over the long term. But of course a lot of favourites do
win.:
:The fact is that not all favourites are bad value in reality some are
very bad value and some are good value. This is because the price of a
favourite is not just derived from the horses true chance. It is created from a
number of factors, some of which have no real impact on the horses true chance
of winning.
:The price might be effected because of who owns it, trains it or
rides it. It may be effected because of something said on one of the racing
channels, because it is a particular tipsters selection or by some other
statistically insignificant piece of information.
At the Betting School we have been looking at favourites
that win for the past few months and we have published various articles on what
factors identify those favourites that are good value and those that are bad
value.

Carrying on our discussion about our bank.
Sorry I am
running a little late this morning so will have to carry on tomorrow but this
was from another reader.
"I use a slightly different variation with my
bank. Assuming a £100 starting bank, I use the 5% 'rule' until my bank
has increased by 50%, then use 5% of that, so my bet size doesn't increase
until the bank is at £150.
I've found it to be very safe (but
slightly slower) method of increasing my bank without increasing the risk too
early.
