Yesterdays Results
Primondo (Miracle System) came 3rd, Beauchamp Viceroy (lay of the
day) came 1st.
Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
We had our first loss on the Lay of the day this month so far
yesterday when Beauchamp Viceroy came in 1st.

We are still in profit for the month although I must admit
todays selection is a little risky at the price but it does
score quite high for the system.

Regarding Mark's place betting question, another thing that might be
worth considering depending on the amount he wants to stake it to bet
to place only on the Tote.
Say for example you have £10 each way on a horse that is placed
(but doesn't win) then right away, you have lost half of your stake
money but at least with a £20 place only on the Tote, you get the
whole amount going on the declared dividend.
Okay if it wins, you still only get the place dividend which can be a
bit galling but that would apply to all place betting, whatever way the
bet was made.
To use an example, the first race of the day yesterday was the 2:20 at
Pontefract where Barbirolli finished 2nd and £10 each way at 1/5 of the
odds for a place would have only returned £24 and £10 of that was one
half of your stake and as previously mentioned, the £10 win stake would
be lost, which meant a grand total profit of £4.
Whereas with the Tote the place dividend paid £2.50 and you would have
this 20 times, which would give a total return of £50, although this
would include your £20 stake but still gives a profit of £30.
Just maybe something worth considering, although I appreciate that you
have less control over the Tote and to an extent can be betting in the
dark sometimes, if not knowing what the dividend will pay, plus if too
may others do the same, it can ruin the size of the dividend too but
think this is very rare and unlikely in most cases.
