Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
On Monday we were talking about
specialising in one area if you are trying to create your own betting
system.
The better you can specialise
the more likely you are to find a system that works. This means that choosing a
type of surface like AW is a start but then narrowing down to a particular type
of race will give you a greater advantage.
One of the reasons I like
specialising in AW is that although the rain can cause the surface to change a
little it is nowhere near as marked as it is with grass. The other more
important reason though is that there are only a few AW courses so it is quite
easy to remember things like "draw bias" and some of the quirks of those
courses.
I know you wont have as many
selections a year as you do on grass but there are AW meetings most days
now.
If we took Kempton although
there isn't any official course "Bias" my observations have been that 7f or
under I think there is a small bias for horses drawn wide about the 5 highest
runners.
Again this isn't official just
my own observation and "Bias" doesn't necessarily mean anything but it is good
to know when you are selecting a runner.
The point is that by
specialising you can create your own picture of what is likely to happen in a
race and then decide if you want to get involved.
I know most people want a system
to follow that will win them money day in and day out but you know as well as I
do that in this game you have to take the rough with the smooth but if you have
quite a good system you are following, why not make it better by using the
system to specialise?
If your system can choose
runners from all sorts of races, why not take notes of what races it is most
successful in then only concentrate on those.

of 12/1 or 13 on betfair. The main rule (and one we have started to use across
a number of our systems) is that you should not bet if the reduction factor for
the race is 10% or more.
