Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I don't know what is up with the Racing Post site at the
moment but it was quite hard work getting all the information
together.
Carrying on from
yesterday
I am sorry it appears that my working out of
the maximum lost may have been a little low using 7.00 as the stake. It should
have been 166.86.
Another win today took my winnings since I started
using the selections with the
Grey Horse bot
to over 60.00, which we decided yesterday would be our maximum risk.
So
the question is should I keep at the same stake for a bit longer,
or should
I increase my stake now, and if so, should I also increase my stop loss in case
we do have the dreaded bad run that Howard was kind enough to warn us
about?
There are several popular ways of deciding when to increase your
stake.
1. Take a % of your bank everyday.
2. At the end of every week
or month.
3. After every win
And I am sure you can think of
more.
The thing is at the moment we are breaking one of my own rules
which is to go for a profit of just 0.5 to 1% of your bank a day . At the
moment we are asking for 3%, which is quite high
But if we increase our
stake immediately then we risk losing everything we have already made and maybe
even more, so here is my proposal.
Now normally and I would suggest just
seeing what happens over a couple of months, but I do have a license to test as
the bank I am using is purely for that.
So from now on I am going to use
2 calculations.
1. The next day after a full 3pt win (3 races) I am
going to increase my base stake by 3%. So today it is 2.06 (+ commission)
2.
I am going to multiply my sake by 30 to get my stop loss and of course multiply
it by 3 to get my daily profit stop.
(Side note: have you noticed how a
lot of 3's and 6's keep turning up with this system? A little
strange!)
Now I must repeat myself, this is purely an experiment and one
I wouldn't suggest you follow and I know many of you will be have kittens for
me even suggesting it.

original Greyhound bot incorporated into the Grey Horse Bot)
Incidently
Howard sent me another email last night with more information of why he is
against this kind of staking and again his arguments are spot on. What I will
do is print his latest email in a couple of days so you can make up your own
mind. I think it is fair that you see both sides of the argument.
We
will discuss more points about staking tomorrow.

8. Greyhound Selections- Lay System
started 07/11/2006.
After playing around with selections I have
decided that for the time being this is going to be a lay only test. I think I
have worked out a system that will give us quite good prices but I suspect
there will have to be a maximum lay price set. I am just not sure what that
will be but I am testing between 2.00 and 7.00. I will make every effort to
record betfair lay prices as well. The ones marked with an asterisks (*) are
from the original and tighter system.
You can see all the results since the
14th (when I introduced the latest selection method)
here. I am now using what I call the "rule of 3", this means
we go for 3 wins and use a 3 race scratch back to get back any
losses.
