Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
Let's carry on from last week.
"What is best for each way betting, the bookies or exchanges?
Here is another answer to Mark's question last week.
"
I have been thinking about the question posed by one of your readers
and I have one answer for you that may be of some use.
Personally I would choose the place market on Betfair as the area to
use for the purpose of backing to place.
I will explain my reasoning as why this is so. The traditional Shop
based bookie has recently changed the way they offer the normal each
way (e/w) bet from 1/4 to 1/5 the odds.
This means an each way bet of £100 on a 14/1 for instance would
normally return 3.5/1 @1/4 the odds but will return 2.8/1 @ 1/5 the
odds.
The math is simple to work out for the £100.
Also with the shop based bookie should there be 7 runners and there is
one Non-Runner the bookie will only pay out to two places.
Compare this to the Exchange place market which can be very competitive
near the off and you can specify what price you want matched which is
normally at least 20% higher in some cases than you could get in the
shop bookies.
Also due to the rules still in force on Betfair you can still get a pay
out on a third should there be a non-runner reducing the field to less
then 7. Good if you’re backing on the place market but not so good if
you’re laying to place.
So in closing I think the advantages to using the Exchange place market
out weigh those traditional bookies.
I would be interested in knowing what system your reader is either using
or thinking of using on the place market and how successful it is.
Kind Regards
Graeme
"
Thanks Graeme for your input on the subject, there will be another
tomorrow.
See Friday's.
