13th February 2009
Todays ramblings Good Morning.
And it's Friday the 13th. Really
fancy to going to the cinema and seeing the new Jason (friday the 13th)
movie!
I am going to try and do some
work outside over the weekend. I want to arrange the garden better this year
and it's time I started clearing the polly tunnel for this years growing
season.
I will leave you this week with
part two of the article I started yesterday.
Betfair are down until 11.00 am
this morning so if you are experiencing problems with software that works with
betfair then this is the likely cause. Part 2 of a 2 part article. http://www.horseracingsystemsuk.com/12-02-2009.htm By

The
next step is to see if you can get any statistical information to help you in
the transferring of the strategies. With regards to greyhounds, you will very
quickly find that there is a huge lack of statistical information out there
especially if compared to other sports such as football, tennis, snooker etc.,
for which there is a great deal of statistical information. Unfortunately for
greyhounds there isn't much, so you will need to rely on using your experience
and intuition more.
So, where do you bet on greyhounds and what is the
size of the betting market? Well you can of course do your greyhound betting at
Betfair as well as at most bookmakers. You can also bet online through the Tote
on certain tracks. The pools on Betfair and the Tote are really very small,
which tells us that if we are betting in a pool, or in an exchange market, then
we will need to keep a close eye on bet size, as a big bet could drastically
change the odds. You now need to watch the markets for a few races to see how
they work and pick out any similarities and, even more importantly, any
differences between them and the horse racing markets. It is advisable to write
any of these down that you feel might be of use as you may forget them, and
even if you think you will remember, it can be very handy to have a reference
for later use.
Almost instantly you will see the major difference
between greyhounds and horses is that the Betfair market is totally different
to the bookmakers and tote market. Since there is a lot more money being placed
on the greyhounds at bookmakers and the tote, we must assume that the odds on
Betfair are a lot less accurate than the others. This is great news for you as
it means that you can get odds that are way above, or below, what they should
be, and it thus also highlights your first possible strategy - trading.
Trading is a concept that most people who bet with any regularity are
now familiar with so I shan't go into an explanation here. Trading forms a big
part of the Betfair horse racing market so it will be possible for you to
transfer that very simple strategy over to the greyhounds. Though a quick play
will show you that actually you cannot trade solely on Betfair greyhound
markets. This is because the markets are too small to make any serious profit,
and the market only starts moving seriously about 2 minutes before the race
starts. A small profit can be made on each race, and I do know of someone who
does this and is very happy with the small but constant profit that they make.
Personally, I feel that the effort and risk isn't worth it.
However,
swapping between Betfair and the bookmakers shows that you can very easily
trade off the massive difference in the odds between the two. You will not be
able to do it every race, but you can do it enough to make a decent addition to
a portfolio of methods with very low risk. As you can see, in less than a day
you will have found a way to add to your portfolio with very little effort by
just transferring a method from one sport to another, and we have only just
started scratching at the surface of opportunities within another particular
type of sport. A little more investigation for example will show you that the
sectional times of greyhounds is an incredibly important factor, and that this
can be looked at in a similar way to speed figures for horses, comparing the
method with the way in which you need to analyse horses' speed in US horse
racing due to the fact that they race mainly on dirt and poly tracks.
Greyhounds offer a comparatively small amount of opportunities for betting
compared to most other sports. Transferring between sports with large markets
such as football, tennis, snooker, cricket and many more besides, can provide
almost endless opportunities for transferring strategies and methods to create
additional profits for your portfolio.
