Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
Apart from working part of
Saturday I had quite a quiet weekend.
You may have noticed that the
RacingPost have reset their tipster table, so I guess we can
say we are officially into the Jump season.

I always suggest (and have already mentioned) that you
should go very careful this time of year. You should wait at least a month for
the season to settle in, before you put your stakes back up to
normal.
You only have to look through some of the race cards and you
will see there are plenty of runners, who have had the whole summer off. 200 to
300 since they last ran (the number along side the name in the Racing Post) is
not unusual.
Although we may have a good idea how they ran before they
rested, we have no way of knowing what the rest has done to their form.
Some runners run a lot better after a rest, while others may need
several races to get up to speed, but it can be difficult to judge
which!
So my message for the next month is "Go Easy"
Looking
through today's races a runner caught my eye.
13.55 Carlisle, Idle Talk
His past record shows: 6UUUU- in fact if you look at his history you
will see he has gone 9 races without a win, but strangely in his younger days
he look much more impressive running up 4 wins out of 6.
Another
interesting thing is that nearly every time he ran his Jockey was Jason
Maguire, who originally rode him on 3 of his 4 wins and Jason isn't a bad
Jockey, but not as good as AP McCoy who is riding Idle Talk today.
So we
have a horse that hasn't done anything for a couple of years who has had a nice
rest and now comes out being ridden by a very good Jockey.
He is
trading at 4.7 on the exchanges and has a place price of 2.58. His record of
unseating riders is a little worrying but with AP doesn't often get
Unseated.
There are other runners in the race to worry about According
To John and New Alco are likely winners.
