When you are trying to create systems that accuratly predict winners
(or losers) you are always on the lookout for anything that may be give
you an edge.
One thing I have been playing with lately are Jockey and Trainer
combinations.
Although they help qualify a potential winner, I have found that they
work better when trying to find a lay, especially when you have to make
a choice between 2 races.
A bit more testing is needed to permantly introduce this idea into
either of my systems, but it looks promising.
You can find the jockey / Trainer table on the right hand side of the
racingpost website under "Course Details" when you are actually looking
at the details of a race.
I always reset the table to 2004 which gives you a better feel
for their performance this year.
Make sure you also note the correct column, it's no good thinking a
Jockey is on top form, if in fact your race is a 2yo and all his wins
have been on 3yo!
