Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
I had an email from a reader called Dave regarding my rambles about making 1%
of your bank a day.
"Firstly, many thanks for your informative and
reliable daily email.
I've was pondering your comments regarding aiming
for a return of 1% of your betting bank, rather than 10 or 15% !. I do agree
that small and often is the best strategy. Myself, I tend to measure 'return on
investment' (ROI) rather than a % of my betting bank. I liken this to the
interest on a savings account or other investment.
I find this approach
works for me and puts my betting activity into prospective. At the moment of
return of 1% is good, compared to high street banks, plus it's tax free!
As for profits - when I make a profit I 'withdraw' 50% of any profits (large or
small) made, once a month (on the same day as my wages from work).
No
withdrawal is made on payday, unless the balance is greater than the balance
left after the last withdrawal.
For example:
Start bank = 100
After month 1, bank is 95, therefore no withdrawal as bank is less than 100
Minimum balance target is still £100
After month 2, bank is 112,
there I take £6 (112 - 100 = 12, 50% = £6) Minimum balance target
is now £106 (112 - 6)
After month 3, bank is 114, therefore I
take £4 (114 - 106 = 8, 50% = 4) Minimum balance target is now £110
(114 - 4)
After month 4 bank is 108, therefore no withdrawal as bank is
less than £110 and so on...
This means I take a profit (50%) and
build a bank (50%). Building the bank pot means I can make bigger bets (usually
around 1 or 2% of bank) in the future. The monthly income (where possible) is a
treat for all my discipline (and faith) each day. "
