Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
Just to remind you there will be no email tomorrow or Wednesday as I am
away.
Cheltenham starts today. As you may know I don't like these big
meetings because they are so unpredictable. With some systems you may find that
for the rest of the week you only get selections from Cheltenham if that is the
case I would be very careful.
I sent this email out to my
stop at a winner list yesterday but I though you may want to
see it as well.
It is from a reader called Liam. His idea is quite
interesting and he gave me permission to show you his email
"You have
recently been debating the principles of staking in you daily newsletters and I
thought I would let you know how I have been working for the past 6 months or
so. I have a portfolio of 5 or 6 systems that I use to make selections and so
have a daily list of upto 10 horses to lay.
As you have been saying it
is very difficult to discipline yourself to "Stop At Winner" when you still
have a number of bets that you are fairly confident will give you more profit.
The downside, as you know, is that you may well end up giving back
your winnings and ending the day down. What I have been doing is to have 2
separate accounts with the exchanges and to run them entirely separately.
For example, I will start on the 1st of the month with £1000 in
one account and £200 in the other. With the larger account I will work
down my list of bets until I have achieved my daily target of 1pt. I use
staking at three levels along the lines of 1.4-2.0 lay liability of £100,
2.0-4.0 lay £100 stake, 4.0-6.0 lay £50 stake.
Anything
higher than 6.0 I will try in running. Once I have made that 1pt profit I will
log out of my main account and log into the smaller one. Here I can use the
rest of my selection list but at greatly reduced stakes say something along the
lines of 2.5% of bank liability.
By doing things this way I make my
daily "Bread and Butter" wages but also make a little bit of "Jam" on the side
from the rest of my list without putting my profitable day's money in jeopardy.
I then withdraw anything over the starting balances at the end of the month and
start all over again.
It's been working well for me even during the
bad weather months. Obviously, you need a few systems you are confident with
but that's the case anyway with any betting. Just thought I'd share my way of
doing things with you and would welcome any thoughts you have."

There are a couple of points I want you to consider when you have read
Liam's email which are quite important and the reason for his success.
Liam has obviously taken the time to find several systems that appear to work
well for him but even so his main plan is to make just 1 pt a day. He has also
taken the time to work out the stakes based on the odds available, even to the
extent of using in running to try and get a price within his range.
(As a side note GHB (grey horse bot) will do this for you automatically.)

And just as
importantly, Liam has found a great way of beating the urge to continue
betting. By opening up a second account he can use this to try and make some
extra money by playing with much smaller amounts.
Now I am not
suggesting you should follow Liam's plan (although it would probably work well
for some people) but he has certainly done his homework which is why he has a
complete plan worked out.

Your be pleased to know that my filter worked yesterday and we
missed a 10/1 loser which would have put us way into the red. I will make one
point though that if we had used all the selections we would have around the
same bank even after the loser.
