Todays ramblings
Good Morning.

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday because I thought I would get a lot of mail saying I was barney over laying as high as 10/1, in fact the total opposite happened! It appears many of you think this is acceptable as long as you are confident with the selections you are using.

Staking continued

The second change David made to his service is using the lay ladder to recover lost stakes, this is always going to be controversial but I think for his service it is an acceptable risk, if you use the small percentage of your bank that David has recommended.

You only have to look back at David’s results for this year and you can see only 3 occasions where he has had 2 losers in a row and that is his longest losing sequence.

The prices of David’s tips are not the lowest around (although I know he is trying to improve this) so you will have to be very careful using the lay ladder with them.

My preference is to use it after the first loser, as you are more than likely to win on the next race, and I usually use it on the second loser as well, but then I am using 1% of my bank with these tips so I can get away with it, although I will tell you that it can be a little frightening!

I have mentioned this before but the good thing about lay tips is that you are more than likely to get a good run of winners quite often, so this gives you far greater scope for recovery.

The real trick to making money with Laying is patience.

If you go over to Adrian Massey’s site and play around with the stats, it doesn’t matter what configuration you use, 99.9% of the time you will find that over time as a layer you will win, you will be very hard pressed to come up with a system that will make you money placing bets to win, I know I have tried it 100’s of times.

So getting back to my point about patience, if you lose on a race then all you have to do is split those losses into 3, 4 or 5 and then add those to your next stake, like this

Loss 60.00

60 / 3 = 20

Instead of your next stake being 60 plus your normal 1% of your bank it is now only 20 plus that percentage.

The reason I say you need patience is because sooner or later you will get a winning run of 3, 4 or probably 5 or more, 3 is my favourite as these happen on a very regular basis.

If you lose again while your waiting to gain your bank back then just add what you have just lost to the money you still haven’t recovered and then divide it up again into the figure you are using. The only difficult thing about this idea is keeping a record of your losses!

So my advice would actual be to use the Lay Ladder for the first loss and then if you lose again use the split to get it back.

Of course if you are using my own V4 lay system then you will have plenty of those winning runs!

Have good day's racing.

Malcolm
