Todays ramblings
Good Morning.

If you use the Racing Post website a lot you have probably noticed that the tipsters naps table was reset a couple of days ago, to represent the start of the flat system.

I use this table in a couple of system but not so much for the order in which the tipsters rank, but more on how many tipsters are following a particular runner.

The problem we have at the start of a new season is the lack of current form to go on and it is really no different for the tipsters in the naps table.

What tends to happen is that form is based on last years results or as many horses have already run on AW courses they use this form.

(If you didn't know AW form is always in "bold", so it is easy to see if a horse has come off AW recently.)

I don't think it is wise to use either because last years form doesn't always equate to this year and a runner who likes Fibresand, may not be so happy on the green stuff.

One thing to notice now though is that we have AW racing almost everyday and on many occasions more than 1 meeting. Although it is not the easiest surface to judge, it is probably the most consistent type of racing we have, so if you want to get better at reading form and judging racing then AW is a good place to start.

There are only 4 AW courses and although the surfaces differ slightly you can probably get a good feel for each track and how the draw works. Most AW races are within the 1.3 mile bracket and of course there are no jumps.

I am not saying it is any easier picking winners or losers on AW. I am really just pointing out that if you want to give your self some selections everyday which are not as affected by the change in seasons and weather conditions, then AW is a good place to start.

Using a site like Flat Stats may help.

New Greyhound Lay system I had come up with.
http://www.horseracingsystemsuk.com/12-03-2008.htm

After some thought I think that the only way to run this system is as a "Stop in Profit". I am going to keep the maximum odds set to 6.00 and I am going to be a little naughty and add in a lay ladder staking plan.

Yesterday shows that you don't always get a Greyhound winning it's race with this system and was the reason why I was reluctant to take that route. Of course the only real way to tell was to open the odds right out again, but I want to see how we do on lays 6.00 or under first.
