Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
Just 3 more day's and a nice break. Well I say "break"
but my list of things that I need to do during this time, is growing longer
everyday.
The place system (3) we have been running has been doing very
well lately but I will admit my selection system, still needs work because
sometimes I am just using my experience, rather than firm rules. This is
something to work on next year but still nice to see how it has improved since
the start.
Carrying on from
Yesterday
Yesterday we won again but to be honest it
was only because I increased the stop loss after the loser we had on the 13.04,
to about 65.00 after the bot stopped at 57.00.
Although we didn't have
more than one loser at a time the gradual increase in the losses added up,
which is always a problem with a scratch back system. I should know I have been
using them for quite a long time, but showing you what can happen in a real
life situation, should help you get a better understanding.
A couple of
things come to light from yesterday and are worth discussing.
The first
is the % of my bank we are using, which I have said all along is to high and
yesterday proved it. The next bet after the loss of 57.92 left me with just
4.04 in the bank. If we would have lost again it would have been total
wipeout.
Howard's idea of using 0.5% of your bank would have worked out
a lot better, even if you still went for 3 wins a day making a total of 1.5% a
day.
This is difficult when you only have a bank under £200 as I
have, but if you want to make a profit in the long term, then you will have to
lower the risk and this is the best way of doing it.
The "Stop Loss" is
the difficult one to decide on and it would be much easier to work out, if we
were being more sensible with our daily stake. We could then probably set a
level that would allow us a few losses, without putting our bank in severe
jeopardy.
Just remember if you can grow your bank even by 0.5% a day,
this would probably out perform in one month, what any other type of risky
investment could do in a year.
Although by adjusting the "Stop Loss"
yesterday we got back in to profit I still want to take it into consideration
and see if we can get it all back before another loss.
So today I want
to adjust our stake back down to 2.00, because you need to adjust for the loss.
My bank today is actually a little less that it shows in the screen
shot because I was trading on the football last night and although I had a
couple of good wins, I lost on one match when I layed the draw and then didn't
get an opportunity to trade out.
The bank was still up on where it
started yesterday morning, which is always a good thing.

8. Greyhound Selections- Lay System
started 07/11/2006.
After playing around with selections I have
decided that for the time being this is going to be a lay only test. I think I
have worked out a system that will give us quite good prices but I suspect
there will have to be a maximum lay price set. I am just not sure what that
will be but I am testing between 2.00 and 7.00. I will make every effort to
record betfair lay prices as well. The ones marked with an asterisks (*) are
from the original and tighter system.

14th (when I introduced the latest selection method)
here. I am now using what I call the "rule of 3", this means
we go for 3 wins and use a 3 race scratch back to get back any
losses.
