Todays ramblings
Good Morning.
Sorry it's late Betfair being down this morning has put
me miles behind this morning.
I had a few replies about the way you bet
that I talked about yesterday. Here is the first.
"In reply to your
request for info on betting if still in profit etc. First a cautionary tale.
Some time ago now I was just watching a tipster on site and monitoring their
strike rate etc. I will say though that the selections were as high as 30 on
Betfair. They also gave quite a few (basically they went through the card)
I decided to join for the 14 day trial and went at it with just
£10 stakes and in one week had wiped my bank. Needless to say I continued
to bet whilst in profit to get the max amount I could ( even us "experienced"
layers can go off the rails) thinking I would get back any losses. Didn't
happen. As this tipster was offering selections up to 30 which they said was
their cut off point I sometimes wonder if i should have used them on the place
market instead. Needless to say No more selections from then from now on, not
going to happen so a moot point really.
It took a long time to
re-build my bank. Now I have just one winning lay and stop for the day. Though
the temptation will be still there to go for the next winning loser to get more
profit discipline is the KEY to this game without it anyone contemplating
trying to earn a living at it will fail eventually.
I now try to judge
what profit level I want and then re calculate the percentage for next week.
Example I make £100 per day minus the Comm rate of 5% for 5 days =
£475. I then take out £200 for living expenses leaving £275
for the bank and to continue the investment.
Re calc the bank at 3% =
£8.25 added to the original stake of £100. making the next weeks
stake £108. I tend to calculate the bank after each win or loss and
adjust accordingly. Now i only go for the first and second favourites mainly
due to the low prices on offer as if the selection wins then there is not too
much damage to the bank. Re-Calculating the 3% sometimes means the next stake
is only down by maybe a pound or two. I also use ratings etc to gain the
advantage. Just keeping now to the one a day and using the above percentage it
is surprising that the stakes can reach the hundreds per day

hasty,take your time and you will get there in the end.

With laying being the favourite method of a lot of punters these days there are
a lot of simple systems being sold for layers. A lot of these systems charge a
lot of money only to tell you to lay the 2nd or 3rd favourite. Which can be
disappointing to say the least.
When testing a lay system for say 3rd
favourites you do need to check a lot of data to be very sure that what you're
doing is profitable. It doesn't take much of a run of losing bets to make a big
dent in your bank, especially when you're laying at 8.0 or 9.0.
However having done a lot of research in recent months I am confident that
there is profit to be had from these systems or more likely a refinement of
them.
